Quick start

Go from sign-up to taking your first requests in about a day.

Most organisations are taking requests the same day they sign up. This page walks the tenant admin through the essentials, in the order that works best.

1. Create your organisation#

  1. On the VectorDesk website, choose Start a free trial, or pick a plan on the Pricing page.
  2. Enter your organisation's name, a short name for your web address, your name and your work email.
  3. Open the confirmation email and set your password. You are now the organisation's tenant admin (head of IT).

Every plan starts with a 30-day trial of all its features. No card is needed to start.

2. Connect Microsoft 365#

Business and Enterprise. Connecting Microsoft 365 lets staff sign in with their work account and keeps people in sync.

  1. Open Administration → Microsoft 365 and choose Connect Microsoft 365.
  2. Sign in as a Microsoft 365 global administrator (or privileged role administrator) and approve VectorDesk for the whole organisation.
  3. VectorDesk imports members with a mailbox (guests are skipped). Departments become org units and offices become locations, so routing rules work straight away. The sync runs every hour.

New people join as requesters. Roles you give in VectorDesk are never overwritten by the sync. See Microsoft 365 and email.

Tip

On Starter, email to ticket through your Microsoft 365 helpdesk mailbox still works; sign-in with Microsoft, user sync and the Teams app need Business.

3. Organise your IT team#

  1. Under Administration → IT sections, create the teams that handle work, for example Service Desk, Devices & Endpoint and Network & Security, and add agents to each.
  2. Under Administration → Categories, review the categories staff choose from and the section that handles each.
  3. Under Administration → SLAs & hours, set your business hours and response and resolution targets for each priority.
  4. Under Administration → People & roles, give your IT staff their roles. See Roles and permissions.

4. Open the channels#

  • Teams: install the VectorDesk app for everyone. See Microsoft Teams app.
  • Email: connect your helpdesk mailbox so messages become tickets.
  • Help centre: share the help centre link; staff sign in with their Microsoft account.
  • Phone and walk-in: agents log these with the New ticket button so every request is counted.

5. Make it yours#

  • Add your logo and colours under Administration → Branding (Business and Enterprise).
  • Publish a few help articles. The template library has ready-made Microsoft 365 guides you can adapt. See Knowledge base.
